Some of my fondest memories as a child, was my sister and I going to Nan’s house on the holidays, she would sit us at the kitchen table and teach us how to make sugar flowers… I didn’t remember it being ‘that’ hard…..so when sadly after my Nan passed I inherited all of her cake decorating books and equipment, I thought I would have a go and ‘teach’ myself how to decorate cakes.

I pretty quickly realized it wasn’t as easy as it looks…….obviously my memory as a kid was clouded by the fact the main focus for us was that we got to eat the flowers when we were finished…….

After trying to ‘teach’ myself without much success, I went and did a short course on the basics of cake decorating……. after that I was hooked……. I was making cakes for everyone, family, friends, then friends of friends. This was the very start of ‘The Cake Lady’.
